  3. Probably this free counter considers WIN 7 as WIN NT.

When the bussines in Redmond, Alabama, started the Win 95 project, cut WinNT 4.0 and chose a subset of functions in WinNT to develop Win 95. Well, it was over 1,997 and the name was WIN 95 haha!
Many other projects failed like Cairo, WIN 2k... Vista ...Two stable versions were WIn98 (limited to 1Gb of RAM, with more than 512Kb RAM problems) and of course, WinXP ( the best )
Good version before were Win3.11 for Groups, but you weren't born or you were a baby. Good ol days running 16 MB of RAM and playing DOOM in a net !!!!!! Over 1,995. (Sorry, but I feel happy when I remember DOOM days , haha! )

But the signature of all these O.S. are "WinNT", New Technology, a joking name, haha!. These information is given to the Web Browser, and of course, to the counter

Differences are in the name of the version, that is WinNT5.2, WinNT6.0 or WinNT6.1 are the basis of your question. The main signature is WinNT, as long as they use the NT file format.

I dont know if I have explained well the difference... Let me know

    Yours, Josele
