Stojan Delchev



Gymnastics is Bulgaria's first Olympic sport. The first Bulgarian gymnast, who took part in the Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, is Charles Shampoff. Velik Kapsazov is the first to win an Olympic medal bronze (rings), and Stoyan Delchev is the first Olympic champion of Bulgarian gymnastics. In Moscow 1980 he wins gold on the rings and bronze in the all-round competition.
In Seoul 1988 Lyubomir Geraskov becomes Olympic champion on the pommel horse and Diana Dudeva wins the bronze on the floor. Krasimir Dunev wins silver on the horizontal bar in Atlanta 1996 and Yordan Yovchev bronze on both the floor and rings in Sydney 2000 and silver and bronze in Athens 2004.


Stojan Delchev

Stojan Delchev - The first to win gold medal in gymnastics in Bulgaria. He won the Olympic title in Moscow in 1980 at the Bar (swing (висилка). From the same Olympics he also won a bronze medal in individual competition.

Born in 1959. In 1977 in Vilnius becomes European champion horse at the handles and the vault. He won the World Cup in Strasbourg in 1978. It 'was absolute European champion and European champion free body in 1979 in Essen. In the same year he won the title in the body free е bronze medal in open competition during World Cup races in Tokyo. Only 17 year old Stojan Delchev has two new elements in his name - "Delchev-1" and "Delchev-2.

National Sports Academy graduated 27 years and became coach of the Bulgarian national team. Today he lives and works in the United States as a coach. For more than 10 years trains the children in their schools to Rhino, the state of Nevada. His private school is located in the richest district of the state and ensures good profits. Delchev has also worked as an advisor to the U.S. youth teams, but he thinks the school remains his greatest passion.

In early 2001 Stojan Delchev has been chosen as "The Gymnast of the twentieth century in Bulgaria. He accumulated 4935 points in the search for national gymnastics federation (BFG). Behind him were the runner of the Athens Olympics Jovchev Jordan (3798) and his teammate from Atlanta 1996 - Kalofer Hristozov (2473.)

Among Women "Issue 1 of the century" is the champion jump Budapest 1983 Boryana Stoyanov (1336 points), followed by Diana Dudeva (869) and Milena Mavrodieva (723).
