The Iconography in Bulgaria has ancient tradition and history. Now you can see in this video two of our well-known icon painters in Bulgaria- Plamen Malinov and Rosen Donchev. What they told us for their work- in iconography are used oil or tempera . In these "pictures" are shown our Orthodox saints, the Holy Mother and her Son,some bibles stories.
The masters use special technique- foil(golden or silver). To paint a good icon you can try to be precise in every detail , to use luxuriant ornament and bright colouring. The "picture"is usually framed,sometimes with gems and silver foil.
