George Chapkanov

Georgi Chapkanov was born in 1943 in the city of Vulchi dol,Dobrudja,Bulgaria.
He graduated National Academy of Arts,Sofia in 1969 with Master degree of "refined sculpture".Chapkanov made in 1973 Creative Specialization in the Cite Internationale des Arts,in Paris.
He works in the domain of drawing,small sculpture,portrait,monumental sculpture,medals,decoration and ornamentation of both interior and exterior.He is the author of the Bulgarian national emblem,the symbol of Bulgaria's capital- Saint Sofia,and lots of jubilee coins and medals . Nowadays he is a lecturer at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. Sculpture professor.
He is the winner of over ten prestigious international awards. Among them are "Sulmona" by Italian President in 1993 and "Grand prix"in Paris in 2002, Special award of the jury -competition "Rodin" of the museum Hakone,Japan in 1990,Award of perfection - competition "Henry Moore" of the museum hakone, Japan,Apollo in 2003.
